ACTFL Pair & Share is a unique, online peer-to-peer member networking and career development tool that helps you find, connect, and share specialized experience, knowledge, and skills with other language professionals.

The Pair & Share program is less formalized than our official Mentoring Program, and typically, pairs in this program meet to solve specific challenges and share ideas in an informal, short-term setting.

Your advisor or advisee can be in the same city or on the other side of the world. You can sign up as both an advisor and an advisee at the same time, or just the one that fits your needs. Get the coaching you need and share your areas of expertise with others in this fun, interactive member-benefit program.

Ready to Get Started?

Your skills and experience can be a lifeline to your peers and colleagues looking for help solving their toughest challenges. Enroll as a Pair & Share advisor or advisee and share your expertise in a casual, one-on-one setting.

Success in 4 Easy Steps

Any ACTFL member can join the Pair & Share program at any time throughout the year. One you enroll in the program, you'll fill out your expertise and interests fields and note whether you want to be an advisor or advisee, or are open to either role.

Step 1: Set up your profile

Complete your ACTFL Central profile. Make sure your contact information is up to date, add a recent professional profile picture, expand on your bio and import your education and job history information from LinkedIn. Having a complete and accurate profile is crucial to the success of selection and matching. Profile complete? Return back to this page and move on to step 2.

Step 2: Enroll!

Are you looking to be an advisor or advisee? Perhaps both? Sign up:

Enroll as an Advisor
Enroll as an Advisee

Make selections for each of the program demographics to set your preferences. Demographics include languages, levels, skills, teaching styles and start/end date. Please note that some fields are required for enrollment. The more information you provide, the easier it will be to make the best match. Keep in mind in order to request an advisor or advisee, you must be enrolled in the program.

Step 3: Find your match

Use the Pair & Share Directory to input your search criteria. Start by selecting the topic(s) of interest which include:

• Language
• Level
• Skills

You can also take advantage of features to help you find and recruit matches:

Track your relationships
Participate in discussion forums on coaching topics
Search for helpful advising resources

Step 4: Connect with your partner

Congratulations! You're all set. You completed steps 1-3 and are now ready for the fun stuff. Let the coaching begin. Do one search or multiple searches. If you're unsure of the search criteria, select "Search for ALL of the selected values." The Pair & Share Directory will do the work for you and populate the results.

Next click on the member's name that you're interested in establishing an advisor/advisee connection with. The link will bring you to their profile page. Look around. If you think it's a desired match, look under their profile image for the Pair & Share badge, which when clicked will allow you to request a connection. If it's not a desired match, you can simply select the back button to return to your previous search results.
